The Secret of Shadow Ranch | Nancy Drew (Food Reference List)
As a little girl, Nancy Drew was my role model. I absorbed the Nancy Drew books, which began in the 1930s, always wanting to ‘solve’ more mysteries. She encouraged independence, but also had best friends near by, inspired my curious mind, and had a can-do attitude. She was a girl of many talents, which fortunately for this post, included baking.
As it turns out, ‘Carolyn Keene’ was a pseudonym for many ghost writers, and the original concept and rough drafts for some of the books was created by Edward Stratemeyer, who also was behind The Hardy Boys and The Bobbsey Twins. Having not had Wikipedia when I reading these books, I’ve only just realised this (seriously? I’m a bit bummed). This particular mystery, The Secret of Shadow Ranch, was written by Mildred Benson.
