The Hobbit; An Unexpected Party; Mince Pies
  • 1 ½ cup (8oz) flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ tsp of mince mixture
  • 115g (4oz) of cold butter
  1. Sift together flour and salt, before cutting cold butter into the flour.
  2. Mix the flour and butter together until it resembles breadcrumbs.
  3. Then add cold water, drop by drop, and mix until a dry dough is formed.
  4. If you make it too wet, add more flour.
  5. Roll out the dough thinly and use to line pie shells.
  6. Leave ¼ of the dough to roll out and cut out circles as pie covers.
  7. Spoon in mince mixture, lay pie cover over and pinch edges.
  8. Using a skewer, punch 3 or 4 holes into the top.
  9. Bake at 150oC for ~20 minutes or until pastry is golden.
