Has anyone ever tried straight pumpkin juice? I wouldn’t scull it, but when you make this recipe, have a sip before you start adding the other ingredients. You might be surprised.

Harry Potter; Pumpkin Juice

  • Author: Bryt @ InLiterature.net

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • half a butternut pumpkin
  • 2 cups apple juice
  • and 1/2 cup pineapple juice.
  • 1 tsp of honey
  • a sprinkling of pumpkin pie spice

Instructions

  1. Start by scooping the seeds out of half a butternut pumpkin (my preferred choice here), chopping it into chunks and steaming it, until soft and mushy straight through.
  2. Scoop the pumpkin off the skin.
  3. –Version 1
  4. Scoop the pumpkin onto cheesecloth. Don’t blend the pumpkin beforehand, as I find the ‘mush’ goes straight through the cloth, and defeats the purpose of straining. Squeeze until all the juice is in the bowl, and you’re left with a handful of pumpkin mush.
  5. –Version 2
  6. Put it through a juicer
  7. In a pitcher, mix together
  8. the pumpkin juice
  9. cups apple juice
  10. and 1/2 cup pineapple juice.
  11. Stir in a tsp of honey and a sprinkling of pumpkin pie spice.
  12. Stir well, chill and serve.

  1. Pumpkin juice eh? Intriiiiguing. Plus, pumpkin pie later can only be a good thing.
I’m wondering if this year will bring any Halloween kiddies to our place. Perhaps I should buy some preemptive chocolate just in case. Then lock the door and turn out the lights.
